AASHTOWare Bridge® Design and Rating Release Notes
February 2022
Legacy System End of Life
BrDR Version 6.8.4 Sunset Date: June 30, 2022
Version 6.8.4 is the last release of the legacy system and maintenance, specification updates, and support will cease effective June 30, 2022. The AASHTOWare Bridge® Task Force and development team strongly encourage users to start planning for the modernization upgrade as early as possible.
Program Limitations
If you are using the Educational version of AASHTOWare Bridge® Design or AASHTOWare Bridge® Rating, be aware that you may only create bridges with the following limitations:

AASHTOWare Bridge® Design and Rating Version 7.2 - New Features
The following enhancements and additions have been added to AASHTOWare Bridge® Design and Rating in Version 7.2:
Steel Plate Girder Design Tool
Prestressed Concrete Design Tool enhancements. Several of the significant new features and capabilities are:
Girder system entry and girder line entry with additional design parameters.
Structure framing plan, typical section, and beam profile schematics.
Prestress tee beam design and additional strand configurations.
Additional reporting capabilities including stability checks for transport.
Load rating Tool enhancements: LRFR analysis of multi-girder systems, slab systems, and multi-cell box beams.
In-memory management of Load Rating Tool's precomputed data repository.
Superstructure data exchange via Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) data standard.
Modernized BrDR Database Migration Wizard.
Support Microsoft Azure SQL and PostgreSQL as BrDR database management system.
Application Program Interface documentation updates.
AASHTOWare Bridge® Design and Rating Version 7.2 - Resolved Incidents
The following Support Center incidents in the AASHTOWare Bridge® Design and Rating Technical Support website are also addressed in this release:
BSSD-35 - MCB cross-section schematic is not displayed for Advanced Cross Section Option with an overhang dimension of 0.00 ft
BSSD-2555 - Error message for Refined loss method input is missing some information regarding the 'Times' input.
BSSD-2619 - ASD modernized engine negative moment capacity override does not get used in the spec article. This worked correctly in the legacy engine.
BSSD-2630 - Adjacent Vehicle Error on Continuous Span Bridges. Adjacent vehicle negative live load stress included in the rating equation for every truck in the analysis, including those not specified to include the adjacent vehicle.
BSSD-2694 - Truss Analysis: Section loss input on a vertical leg of an angle stops analysis
BSSD-2816 - Ratings of 0.00 for steel bridge built-up plate girder when previous version of BrR produced ratings greater than 1.0.
BSSD-2835 - BrR is not considering the deck in the effective composite section properties for negative flexure for steel structures.
BSSD-3101 - LRFD Effective Slab width for Sample Database-FSys GF Training Bridge3 is missing.
BSSD-2971 - Issues in LRFR Floor Beam Rating considering permit lane gapping for floorbeam analysis. BrR results don't match hand calculations.

Special Note on Hardware Requirements
The Hardware Requirements listed in the AASHTOWare Bridge® Startup Guide Step 5 and AASHTOWare Catalog are the requirements for typical bridge model. These requirements are highly dependent on the size of the model, the type of the bridge and the complexity of the analysis.
